Passport Book Number
A passport book number is a 9-digit identifying number, located on the upper right-hand corner of the second page of the passport.
It can consist of both numbers and letters and expresses information about the passport itself, as well as the passport holder. For example, the first two numbers indicate which passport office it was issued by.
Keep in mind, however, that you must have a physical passport to travel internationally. You can’t use just your passport number. If you need to replace your passport, you must submit Form DS-11 in-person at a passport issuing agency.
